What Surge Protection Is Designed to Do
A surge protective device helps limit brief increases in voltage that can damage connected electronics. Surges can originate outside the property or from equipment within it. Protection selected and installed for the electrical system can be part of a broader approach that also considers sensitive devices at their point of use.
A surge protector does not supply electricity during an outage. If keeping equipment running during power loss is your priority, our generator services address a different need. Likewise, surge protection does not correct a loose connection, damaged wiring, or another existing electrical fault.
Begin With the Panel and Existing Protection
Tell us whether a surge protective device is already installed and whether you have noticed a change in its status indicator. You do not need to open the panel or touch internal components. We review the relevant equipment and explain whether the next step is a new installation, replacement, or investigation of another concern.

Ask us to walk through the proposed device, where it will be installed, and what the installation includes. Protection has limits, so no proposal should be read as a guarantee that every appliance will survive every electrical event. Existing equipment damage also needs its own assessment.
Product warranty terms and any connected-equipment coverage depend on the selected manufacturer and model. We explain the relevant product information rather than treating every protector as interchangeable. North registers manufacturer warranties and helps with claims at no charge as part of normal support; North’s separate two-year workmanship warranty covers issues with our work.
Know How to Check the Installed Device
Many surge protective devices have a visible indicator showing their status. At the handoff, we explain the indications and manufacturer guidance for the equipment installed at your property. If the indication changes or you have concerns after an electrical event, contact us rather than opening the equipment.
Our own professional technicians complete the agreed connections and checks, provide photos and written findings, and clean up the work area. We wear shoe covers when entering your home. Required permits and inspections for the agreed work are handled by North.
